31 Jul 2017

Leon, 31 July 2017. Aspire Academy graduate Ahmed Yasser (23) joins Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa in Spain's Second Division, the Liga 1|2|3. The defender, who was part of Qatar's team at the 2016 AFC U23 Championships and who has won the Qatar Stars League four times with Lekhwiya SC, will be part of the defense of the AZF-owned club in the 2017-18 season thanks to a one-year loan agreement between Leonesa and Duhail SC.

"I have thought a lot about my next step and in the end, joining Cultural Leonesa turned out to be the best option for my development. I love Spanish football, the second league is very competitive and I know that the expectations for the club are high after the promotion. I am going to work hard every day and I am confident that I will be able to become an important player for the club," Ahmed Yasser said after his presentation in Leon.

Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa's Sporting Director Oscar Cano is delighted to see the Qatari join the club: "Despite his young age, Ahmed is a player with a lot of international experience and he is one of Qatar's great hopes for the 2022 World Cup team. He has proven himself in the Qatar Stars League and we are happy that he has chosen us for the next step of his career."
