?Doha, 8 January 2015. In the last week of December our endurance group successfully competed at the “Indoor Youth National Track & Field Championships” in Doha and at the “GCC Junior Cross Country Championships” in Kuwait. At the GCC Junior Cross Country Championships, Musaab Adam, a recent graduate of Aspire excelledin Qatar’s National Team Gold medal performance by claiming individual Gold race over 8 kilometers. Current Aspire student athlete Abubaker Hayder finished second in this race and was also part of Qatar’s successful National Team.
At the Indoor Youth National Championships fellow student Abada Bushara won the 800 metres Gold medal with a personal best of 2.02.03. Hafiz Haydar, who won Silver over the 1500m distance, also improved his personal best (4.13.39) at this event. Over the last week our athletes also took part in the next phase of the Qatar Indoor Cup in Doha. The age groups were cadets, juniors and seniors in several events and Aspire’s students competed very well earning 27 gold, 20 silver and 11 bronze medals. In addition, the athletes combined to set 38 personal bests. Abdulla Hassan, with 3552 points, claimed a Qatar National Age Group Record. Currently the main group is preparing for the winter preparation camp in Stellenbosch whilst the endurance group will be going to Portugal.
