ASPIRE ACADEMY HANDS OVER KUN RIYADI PROJECT TO QOC

Doha, 8 November 2016.The handover ceremony of the Qatar’s Athlete Development Pathway (QADP) a collaborative project between Aspire Academy and Qatar Olympic Committee took place at Aspire Academy on Tuesday 8 November in the presence of Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General, Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al- Kuwari, Aspire Zone Foundation CEO, Mr Mohamed Khalifa Al- Suwaidi and Aspire Academy Director General, Mr Ivan Bravo. Also in attendance were the Austrian Ambassador, H.E Willy Kempel, French Ambassador, H.E Eric Chevailler and The Netherlands  Ambassador, H.E  Dr Bahia Tahzib-Lie.

Aspire Academy was handing over the Kun Riyadi project model , a part of the Qatar’s Athlete Development Pathway (QADP) program that Qatar Olympic Committee asked Aspire Academy to spearhead over the last 3 years.  Aspire Academy Director General, Mr Ivan Bravo expressed gratitude to H.E Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Olympic Committee for their faith in trusting Aspire Academy to partner with in this project. We had support and cooperation from every Federation and we are all proud of the work that has gone into this research and model but now the implementation needs to be made and ensure the project bears fruit and accrue success to Qatar’s sporting goals.” 

Qatar Olympic Committee Secretary General, Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al- Kuwari in his remarks, said Qatar Olympic Committee Under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Al-Thani, President of Qatar Olympic Committee is grateful to Aspire Academy for its great work in conducting the project work, “As Qatar Olympic Committee we need to be ready to implement this project and we want to change the road map of sport in Qatar. Qatar Olympic Committee will supervise the implementation of Kun Riyadi which we intend to start with 3 to 5 Federations to begin with and then bring more on board gradually.” Said Dr Thani Abdulrahman Al- Kuwari.


Kun Riyadi (Be an Athlete), Qatar’s Athlete Development Pathway (QADP) program

Kun Riyadi (Be an Athlete) is a project which is part of  Qatar’s Athlete Development Pathway (QADP) program which the Qatar Olympic Committee has embarked on to provide strategic direction and identify key initiatives for the sports sector. This encompasses structured pathways for athlete development from birth to retirement providing a framework to allow optimal progression in order to maximize athlete potential and engagement in sport. One of these initiatives is the preparation of Qatar’s athlete development pathway, Kun Riyadi. An athlete development pathway is a mechanism by which developmental stages are identified and appropriate opportunities provided to ensure maximum potential for performance outcomes.
