14 Oct 2014
?Doha, 14 October 2014. The month of October is internationally known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, promoting awareness about the most common type of cancer amongst women around the world.
This year Aspire Active cooperates with the National Cancer Program (www.ncp.qa) and is organizing an empowering campaign that runs between 19 – 22 October 19 and 22 in the “Ladies Club” to support the core message of the National Cancer Program ‘Be Breast Aware’ that supports the idea that early detection can save lives.
An interactive pink booth will be available from 19th to 22nd of October inside the Ladies Club, where nurses of the National Cancer Program (NPC) offer our clients helpful information and guidance to learn more about breast cancer, its signs and symptoms, to educate them that prevention and early detection can save lives. For this purpose, silicon dolls will be available on a separate room inside the booth where the client can be educated of how a self-examination is performed and how a “suspicious” lump feels.
We encourage our clients to approach the booth and try the self-examination on the silicon dolls. Pamphlets with additional information will be distributed as well. The booth is also going to be supported by female staff members of Aspire and the entire staff is encouraged to wear pink t-shirts and wrist band during this week.
