ABDULLA AL-TAMIMI WINS 2018 MALAYSIA OPEN

Kuala Lumpur, 22 July 2018. Great achievement for Aspire Academy graduate Abdulla Al-Tamimi: The 23-year-old Qatari squash player triumphed at the 2018 “Malaysian Open” that took place from July 17 to 22.

On the way to the final, Al-Tamimi, who is currently No. 33 in the PSA World Ranking and who was seeded Nr. 3 in Malaysia, defeated top-seeded Leo Au (PSA rank 20) of Hong Kong in a 3-2 set thriller.

In the final on Sunday, the Qatari faced another player from Hong Kong: number 2 seeded Tsz Fung Yip (PSA rank 29). In an exciting final that lasted almost one hour, Al-Tamimi also managed to have the better end by winning in five sets 5-11 12-10 11-1 7-11 11-5.
