The former professional footballer was appointed as the Aspire Academy’s Chief Sports Officer in April 2021. He joined after an impressive 21-year playing career which started at English club Millwall before he moved to Premier League side Everton, where he spent eight years.
Before his retirement in 2019 he went on to play club football in the USA, China, India as well as his native country Australia. At international level, Tim is Australia’s all-time leading scorer with 50 goals in 108 appearances. He captained his country nine times and played at four FIFA World Cups, scoring 5 goals across those tournaments.
Mr. Cahill holds a UEFA Pro Licence, which is the highest football coaching certification available in Europe. He earned it having completed UEFA’S ‘C’, ‘B’ and ‘A’ licences. Prior to joining Aspire, he was part of the coaching team for Everton’s under-16 squad and worked with the Qatar Football Association developing their undr-16 and under-19 teams. As well as his coaching qualifications, in 2019 he earned a certificate in Entertainment, Media and Sports Business from the prestigious Harvard Business School in the USA. In 2021 he completed the first part of his Sports Management Diploma at Qatar’s Josoor Institute in partnership with SDA Bocconi School of Management.
As part of his role at the Aspire Academy, he is also a Member of the Board of Directors for Belgian First Division club KAS Eupen. Mr. Cahill is also on the Scientific Advisory Board of Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital- Aspetar.
