VIBRANT FIRST PARENTS MEETING OF THE YEAR TAKES PLACE AT ASPIRE ACADEMY

Doha, 24 September 2019. Aspire Academy hosted the first parents meeting for the 2019-2020 academic year for the parents of students from all year grades on Tuesday 24th September 2019. Aspire Academy Deputy Director General, Mr Ali Salem Afifa welcomed the parents on behalf of the senior management. In  his opening address he  emphasized the school commitment to both sporting and academic excellence and told the parents ASPIRE acknowledges the important role they play in the development of their sons into champions in life, “ You are key to the central part of development and holistic education of your son therefore part of  the work we do at Aspire Academy and we value you. At Aspire we are keen to not only reinforce education and sport but build personalities. These boys will be fathers, citizens and representatives of the country and they will do so responsibly bring us pride. The Qatar National Football team that won Asian Cup in January despite the difficult challenges and a hostile terrain showed the values that we teach at Aspire and we are very proud this team and what the achieved and how they did so” said Mr Ali Salem Afifa.

The evening was attended by Academy directors, teachers and coaches. During the evening, the following department, Sport, Football, Aspire Health Centre and Education and Student Affairs had representatives on stage to give an overview of the programmes and take questions from the parents on their respective departmental matters.  

In his speech to the gathering Aspire Academy, School Principal Jassem Mohammed Al-Jaber said: “Aspire Academy values the cooperation between parents and the academy and by hosting our first parent orientation session this year we are delighted that parents will have the chance to meet with teachers, coaches and directors to learn about how the students are settling in and adapting to life at Aspire Academy. This is the first of many parent-teacher meetings that we have planned for this year, since we believe strongly in working very closely with parents to support the academic and athletic development of our students. This year we have embarked on some programmes aimed at re-enforcing positive behaviour in our students based on the mantra of three R’s, respect, responsibility and readiness”, said Principal Jassem Mohammed Al-Jaber.

Aspire Technical Director Football department, Edorta Murua told the parents that the Academy runs a procedural and systematic development structure in its approach to teaching football skills and fundamentals and the coaching staff are at the disposal of the boys throughout the experience.  Meanwhile Aspire Academy Deputy Director Sports Dr Hazem Anabtawi, told the parents they play a vital role in motivating their sons. “Family is important to the work we carry out at Aspire, your sons are joining a new system, which can be a challenging transition, but they are going to get a lot of support in order to make the most of their potential and that includes love and motivation from you at home. Only if they have the full support of everyone, will they be able to become successful champions.”

A question and answer session followed the panel presentation. Several parents brought forward their contributions a, questions and suggestions as the Academy continues to use these interactive meetings with parents to not only inform them of the students’ work but to engage with them on some new developments the Academy is implementing the curriculum. Several parents thanked the Academy for organising the meeting, explaining that such events offer them important opportunities to learn more about the academy, the students’ performance and to better understand the role they can plan in effectively supporting their sons’ academic and athletic development.
