STRONG RESULTS AT ARAB FENCING CHAMPIONSHIPS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait, 11 February 2019. A number of Aspire Academy student-athletes represented Qatar at the Arab Fencing Championships from February 8 to 10 in Kuwait. Due to many strong performances in the cadet (U17) and junior (U20) categories, the Qatari fencers could win multiple medals and showed another proof of their constant progress.

In the team competition, Qatar’s U17 team - featuring Hussain Al Mutawa, Khaled Aref Hussein, Abdallah Ismail Khalifa and Faisal Al Sowaidi – won the gold medal. The same team also started in the U20 team competition, where they also performed very well, reaching the final and taking home silver. In both finals the Qataris face host country Kuwait.

In the individual competitions, Khaled Aref Hussein won silver in the U20 category and bronze in the U17s. Abdallah Ismail Khalifa won silver in the U17 and bronze in the U20, while Hussain Al Mutawa finished the competition with bronze in the U17 competition.
