Doha, 9 February 2020. Spartak Moscow accounted for Serbian giants, Partizan Belgrade 3-2 to claim overall victory in the 2020 MATCH PREMIER CUP tournament held at Aspire Academy. The win meant Spartak finished the competition with two wins and a draw good enough to see them retain the Cup they won last year.
The Red and White as Spartak is affectionately known, scored through, Roman Zobnin, Ezequiel Ponce (penalty) and Alexander Sobolev while Partizan who led 2-1 at half time scored through a header from Lazar Pavlovich and Seydouba Soumah. The end of the first half saw Partizan down to ten men when midfielder Bibras Natcho got a second yellow and coach Savo Milosevic also send off as the Serbians lost their cool and eventually the match.
Meanwhile in the last match of the tournament, Lokomotiv Moscow beat Rostov FC 5-4 on penalties after the match had ended 3-3 in regulation time. A free-flowing football match ensued as both teams went for broke from first whistle. Lokomotiv ‘s Murilo Cerqueira opened the scoring before Rostov made it 2-1 through goals from Maksim Osipenko and Pavel Mamayev. Grzegorz Krychowiak then equalized on 61st minute. Roman Eremenko restored Rostov’s lead ten minutes later, but it didn’t last as Dmitri Rybchynsky made it 3-3 on 73rd minute.
The result meant that Lokomotiv finished the 2020 Parimatch Premier Cup in second place with Rostov in third and Partizan Belgrade fourth. That brought to an end the 2nd edition of the Match Premier Cup tournament to take place on Aspire Academy.
