Qatar finishes as 6th best country at 2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championships

Gifu, 11 June 2018. On the final of the 18th edition of the “2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championships” for Asian Under-20 athletes, that took place from June 7 to 10 in Japan, Nuh Andu achieved another great result for Qatar by winning the silver medal in the high jump competition.

With Muhand Saifeldin winning over 1,500m and in the 3,000m steeplechase event, and Moaaz Ibrahim triumphing in shotput, Qatar won in total three gold medals. Combined with the 3 silver medals, won by Nuh Andu (high jump), Moaaz Ibrahim (discus throw), and Bassem Hemeida (400m hurdles) Qatar sensationally finished 6th in the medal table of this high profile competition. In total, 437 athletes from 35 nations competed in 44 events.

Muhand Khamis Saifeldin: 1st Place 1500m (3.49.30), 3.000m Steeplechase (8:51.97)

Bassem Hemeida: 2nd Place 400m Hurdles (50.55, PB)
Saoud Abdulaziz Al Humaidi:  4th 110m Hurdles (13.85)
Rashid Abdulla R Al-Suwaidi: Long Jump (7.12m)
Owaab Barrow: 110m Hurdles (13.89) into Final (World Junior Qualifying Standard)
