MATCH PREMIER CUP BRINGS TOP FOOTBALL TO ASPIRE ACADEMY

30 Jan 2020

Doha, 30 January 2020. The “MATCH PREMIER CUP” returns to Aspire Academy and three Russian Premier League (RPL) clubs and a top Serbian team are going to fight for the trophy from February 1 to 9.

The tournament, organized by TV channel MATCH PREMIER, that debuted in 2019 in Doha, returns to Aspire Academy: From February 1 to 9, three RPL clubs and an 8-time Serbian champion club will take part in this prestigious tournament. The Russian Premier League will be represented by Rostov, Spartak, Lokomotiv and they are joined by Serbian top-club Partizan Belgrade.

The tournament structure will be the same as previous editions: Each team will play three games and in the case of a draw, there will be a penalty shootout. Teams will get three points for a win in regular time, two points for a win on penalties, and one point for losing on penalties. If teams are tied at the end of the games, goal difference will be used to separate them. If they are still tied at that point, final standings will be based on the head-to-head results.

Tournament matches will be broadcast on Match TV and MATCH PREMIER, as well as covered on their social networks and websites: matchtv.ru, matchpremier.ru and sportbox.ru.

The winner of the first MATCH PREMIER tournament in January 2019 in Qatar was Spartak, and the summer edition held in Austria in July 2019 was won by Krasnodar.
