Doha, 11 March 2019. The Malaysian Director General of Higher Education Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir visited Aspire Academy on Sunday, 10 March 2019. During her visit Dr Siti Hamisah led a delegation that included the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Malaysia in Qatar, Mohamad Shahir Bin Sabarudin and Dr Raha BT Abdul Rahim from the Institute of Higher Education in Malaysia. The delegation was welcomed and taken on an extensive tour of Aspire Academy by Academy school principal, Mr Jassem Al Jaber.
Speaking after her visit, Director General of Higher Education Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir started by congratulating Qatar for their recent victory in the 2019 Asia Cup. “We congratulate people of Qatar for the Asia Cup win and l was pleasantly surprised to learn from Principal Jassem Al Jaber that a good number of Aspire Academy graduates were part of that team and yet from what l have seen of this place it makes sense that such an impressive institution would produce champions. I am well impressed by the holistic approach to education that Aspire Academy embraces. The twinning of sport and academic development is really the modern way which is highly recommended and is proving to be a key component in developing well rounded citizens.”
“Aspire is spectacular, and that’s not only the facilities l am talking about but the whole concept and approach to youth sport development from education, care to training. It is evident this project has been well-thought-out and executed to the highest level and we are going to look into areas of cooperation and exchange between Malaysia and Qatar in common fields of which education and sport are but two of these. What I saw today is encouraging and very impressive, once again l congratulate Qatar for the excellence you pursue which is exemplified by the programmes and objectives at Aspire Academy”
