Doha, 3 February 2019. Twelve U-17 teams of the world’s best clubs from twelve different countries on their way to Doha to taking part in the 2019 Alkass International Cup. From February 4 to 15, people have the opportunity to see some of the world’s greatest talents in football playing on the pitches of Aspire Academy.
People still remember the thrilling final of 2018, when Paris St.-Germain claimed their third Al Kass-title defeating Kashiwa Reysol 2-1 in front of an enthusiastic crowd from across the world that flocked to Aspire Zone for the final day. Both finalists are also part of the 2019 edition and thanks to the draw, they are going to meet again in the tournament’s opening match on February 4 at 4:35pm on Aspire Pitch 5.
PSG-Coach Laurent Huard is already looking forward to the upcoming games: “It’s always a pleasure for us to come and participate, because the organization is perfect and this tournament is a very important moment in the season for the staff and especially for the young players. Last season’s victory was a highlight of the year and it created an even stronger excitement to come to participate in this magnificent event.”
PSG’s squad is going include three players from the 2018 champion, Anfane Ahamada, Kenny Nagera, and Herve Malebe. The third team in their group is AS Roma.
After the opening game, Aspire Academy is entering the pitch on 6:45pm for their tournament opener against Raja Casablanca. Their second game in the group stage is taking place on Friday, February 8 against Scottish club Rangers at 4:35pm.
