Doha, 5 November 2018. Aspire Academy welcomed back graduate student, world No.23 and Qatar’s number 1 squash player, Abdulla Al Tamimi to share tips on various international experience with student-athletes on Sunday 4th November 2018.
Al Tamimi spent a full day at the academy where he accompanied young student-athletes to morning training, lunch, (where he made a healthy protein snack and shared with the athletes) before speaking to a class and ended the tour with a Q&A panel session with students.
At the academy’s dining hall, Qatar’s rising squash star ensured that student-athletes could benefit from his wealth of experience as a professional player by educating students with healthy eating habits for a high sporting performance.
Al Tamimi demonstrated how the student-athletes could boost their energy intake by combining simple ingredients including carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, and water.
Commenting on the tour, Abdullah Al-Tamimi, said; “I spent what I consider, were the best six years of my life here at Aspire Academy. Coming back here and being able to share what I’ve learnt with the next generation of aspiring athletes is something I truly value. When I was younger, I used to look up to other athletes, and I feel very privileged to be an inspiration to others. Aspire Academy is where all the key foundations for my career were laid and will be very beneficial to everyone who comes here. As a pro-athlete, I burn almost 2,000 calories a day, so it is important to pay attention to what I consume. I focus on having three big meals and I distribute protein snacks within my training schedule. A balanced diet is essential to fuel high performance.”
Aspire Academy is keen on developing well-educated sports champions, through a wide range of informative tools. Hosting graduates inspires students to eagerly work on themselves to obtain a healthy, active lifestyle.
Mahmoud Al Khateib Aspire Academy Sports Dietician was part of the team that organized Al Tamimi\s visit added, “We have been doing this for some time now, where we invite some of our successful graduates like, Mutaz Barshim, Akram Afifi and Al Tamimi to come and spent time with our current student-athletes and amongst other tips emphasizing on importance of good nutrition and correct diet in an athlete’s career,” concluded Mahmoud Al Khateib.
