GOLD FOR MOAAZ AND KHAMIS IN VIETNAM.

Ho Chi Minh, 6 June 2016. Great success for Aspire Academy student-athletes Ibrahim Moaaz Mohamed and Saifeldin Muhand Khamis , who both triumphed at the 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championship 2016 in Vietnam.

The Qatari set the first championship record of the event and erased the 15-year-old championship record of 60.14m set by Wu Tao of China, with a throw of 60.49m to win the men’s discus throw final. Ando Yume of Japan achieved best throw of 58.80m for silver medal. Yukinaga Shinichi, winner of shot put, added another medal to his tally by winning bronze medal with a throw of 54.79m.

Fellow Aspire Academy student-athlete, Saifeldin Muhand Khamis won the men’s 3000m steeplechase final with a performance of 9:26.79s. Host Vietnam runners Le Trung Duc (9:27.40s) and Le Quang Hoa (9:31.86s) finished on the second and third place respectively.
