? Two high-ranking representatives of Burnley Football Club, Co-Chairman John Banaszkiewicz and Brendan Flood, who is on the Board of Directors, were welcomed at Aspire Academy on Thursday. They were taken on a guided tour through the facilities and had the chance to talk and exchange thoughts with several members of the staff, including Professor Valter Di Salvo, Director of Football Performance & Science.
The visitors from Burnley FC, a club that recently got promoted to the English Premier League, were impressed by the facilities and the vision of the academy. “Aspire Academy really lives up to its name and it demonstrates the commitment of Qatar to be an innovator in sports,” commented Brendan Flood, who is also the co-founder of Orlando City Soccer Club, which will soon join the Major League Soccer (MLS) in the USA.
“If what we saw here today is just the first phase of what Aspire Academy is trying to achieve, one can only ask what will happen next. Sport and education is undoubtedly a really good fit. That’s a reason why we started offering university degree courses in Football Business (UCFB) with locations in Burnley and London and we are also going to open a campus in Orlando, USA,” John Banaszkiewicz told during their visit.
