ASPIRE’S ABDRAHMAN RETURNS FROM WORLD U20 ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH A PB

08 Aug 2022

Aspire Academy student-athlete Mahamat Abakar Abdrahman set a new personal best for the 400m hurdles at the World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Colombia.

Abdrahman, who at just 16 years old was the youngest athlete in the field, set a time of 52.50 seconds as he finished third in his heat to qualify for the semi-finals in Cali.

Unfortunately he was unable to match his time from the heats in the semi-finals and failed to reach the final despite once again running under 53 seconds.

The academy’s other two representatives at the championships Nayef Mubarak Al-Rashidi and Doudai Oumar will have gained valuable experience of taking part in a global event even though neither made it beyond the heats of the 110m hurdles.
