Doha, 24 August 2020. The 2019-20 QNB Stars League season emerged from a corona-virus pandemic break to produce a scintillating finish with Al Duhail club, boasting a good number of Aspire Academy graduates beating Al Ahli 1-0 on final day of play to claim the League title.
Aspire Academy graduates feature in every one of the 12 teams playing in the QNB Stars League. With the season coming to an end and the nominations for top awards have been announced. Aspire Academy graduate and current Asian Player of the year, Akram Afif will share the top-scorer award will be share with Al Rayyan’s Yacine Brahimi after they both managed to score 15 goals during the season. While Afifi has got this award in the bag, he still could add another, after being nominated for the Best Player of the season Award too. Further jubilation and kudos to Aspire graduates for nominations include all three in the Best U-23 Player of the Year Award as Khalid Muneer who plays for Al Wakra, Homam El-Amin of Al Gharafa club and Tarek Salman of Al Sadd SC battle it out for the honours.
The Qatar Football Association Award ceremony has been cancelled this season as part of the country’s measures to combat the (COVID-19) pandemic. Nominees and winners will be announced through the official website and social media platforms of QFA and Qatar Stars League.
Participants in the voting process are QNB Stars League team coaches, Qatar national team coach, Qatar Olympic team coach, Team managers, Media representatives, Representative of QFA, Representative of Qatar Stars League, President and Board members of the QFA Awards Committee Board.
