Aspire Academy graduate and hammer thrower Ashraf El-Seify once again showed his great potential at the international stage: With a throw of 75.41 in the final of his event, the 24-year-old Qatari and 2018 Asian Games gold medalist finished in the ninth position at the IAAF World Athletics Championships on Wednesday.
Poland’s Pawel Fajdek once again proved that he is the undisputed king of hammer throw by sealing his fourth consecutive win at the Khalifa International Stadium. With a throw of 80.50 meters, Fajdek became the first man in history to achieve the feat of four successive gold medals at the World Championships. France’s Quentin Bigot with 78.19m clinched the silver beating Hungarian Bence Halasz by a single centimetre.
