Doha, 16 January 2020. During a press conference on January 15, it has been announced that Abdul Rahman Al-Dhimi, 2019 graduate of Aspire Academy, is going to be one of the recipients of the “2020 Scientific Excellence Award” by Qatar’s Ministry of Education.
Dr Hamda Hassan al-Sulaiti, Scientific Excellence Award CEO, announced the names of the 83 winners and the medals they won in each category, in the presence of committee members, award winners and their parents, the winning school, winning teachers, and winners from holders of MA and PhD degree holders.
Aspire Academy-graduate Abdul Rahman Al-Dhimi, who is currently studying in “Electrical Engineering” at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom was delighted when he received the news. “Winning this award motivates me to excel in my university studies and to obtain the highest grades, before I am going to return to Qatar and serve my country.”
During his time as student-athlete at Aspire, Al-Dhimi, who achieved grades of 95%, also participated in many competitions and programs of this kind, most notably the “Al Mutanafisoon” program of the Qatar Charity Foundation. He was inaugurated as Secretary-General of the Model United Nations Conference held at Aspire Academy in 2018 with the participation of 150 students.
On the sporting level, he won a gold medal at the U18 Gulf Golf Championship held in the Sultanate of Oman in 2018. “I felt very proud about this victory, especially I was able to successfully represent Qatar and winning the silver medal at the Arab U18 Golf Championship in Morocco was also a great result for me.”
The “Scientific Excellence Award” is considered the most important and highest honor in the academic field in Qatar and is awarded to graduates in general and university education as well as at the Masters and PhD levels in addition to distinguished teachers, schools, and for scientific research.
