Aspire Academy will honor its graduate students on Tuesday at a valedictory ceremony that will mark the end of the 2021-2022 academic year at the country’s and world’s iconic sports academy.
A total of 45 students from the 2021-22 batch, the second largest after last year’s 51, will be awarded certificates at the 15th graduation ceremony.
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday 14 June at the Aspire Dome in the presence of top dignitaries, members of the Academy’s senior management and parents of the student-athletes.
The 15th graduation batch compromised of student-athletes across eight sporting disciplines -- Football (24), Athletics (11), and Referees (3), Squash (2), Swimming (2), Motorsports (1), Fencing (1) and Gymnastics (1).
Among these graduates, 35 are from the arts department and 10 from science.
It is the second-highest number of student-athletes to graduate since the academy awarded its first batch in 2007-2008 session.
Since, the academy was launched in 2004, a total 540 students have passed out from the academy.
Once this 2021-22 batch step out of the world-renowned academy, a new generation of future stars is likely to enrich Qatari sports like what Mutaz Barshim, Ashraf El Seify, Abdulla Al Tamimi, Abdelkarim Hassan, Akram Afif and Almoez Ali achieved in their respective fields.
Aspire Academy Director of Education and Student Affairs, Badr Al - Hay heaped praises on the graduates for remaining tough and determined during the pandemic years.
“You’ve reached this important day in your long journey while courageously facing an unexpected global health crisis during the academic year,” said Al- Hay.
“Forget all the hardships that may have passed and celebrate the joy of the ceremony. We are happy to see you embark on the next chapter in your lives,” said Al Hay.
“On behalf of all of us at Aspire Academy, we are proud of you and your determination and perseverance to overcome and challenge the difficult moments,” he concluded.
