Aspire Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Doha Center for Media Freedom

?The prestigious Aspire Academy has signed today a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Doha Center for Media freedom (DCMF) during press conference in Aspire Academy; during which the two parties agreed to partner and contribute to the success of school news activities of media literacy program. The signed memorandum between the two parties is meant to provide support to Aspire student athletes in the field of media by introducing them to the basics and train them how to face media and also the good use of different media outlets especially the correct use of the social media. “We, in Aspire Academy, strongly convinced and believe in the importance of communicating properly with different media outlets and the good use of them by our student athletes. We feel it is similarly important to provide our student athletes in the academy with all possible means to prepare them to be up to the challenges ahead and to deal properly with different media tribune and the good use of new media outlet,” declared Mr. Badr Jassim Al- Hay, Director of Education and Students Care in Aspire Academy upon signing the Memo with the Director General of DCMF, M. Jan Keulen. “By signing this memorandum with Doha Center for Media Freedom, we aim at using their expertise in the field to benefit our student athletes through workshops and training courses based on their experienced staff and equipment to prepare a young generation capable of facing the challenges ahead put forward by the huge media flow flooding the world especially the new media means known as social media. So this memo definitely will serve both sides in an appropriate way as the DCMF also will have access to the works and activities of our elite student athletes in Aspire;” added Mr. Al-Hay. As he praised the great work of Aspire Academy and its concept based on both education and sports, Mr. Jan Keulen, Director General of Doha Center for Media Freedom, said commenting on signing this memo with Aspire Academy: “I am really pleased to announce this Memorandum of Understanding between Aspire Academy and Doha Centre for Media Freedom. This MOU serves the objectives of Aspire Academy & DCMF. Both parties want to promote media and information literacy, because we are aware of the enormous importance of preparing a young generation to deal with the continuous flow of information they are confronted with, especially through on-line media. Through the Media Literacy program the students will gain insight in the workings of the media and the importance of press freedom. The program aims to contribute to the students’ critical thinking and analytical skills and to fully prepare them to take part in the information society of the future.” “We are happy that this MOU will tighten cooperation between the prestigious Academy and DCMF in order to achieve the development and progress of Youth Media Education in Qatar,” He concluded. It is worth mentioning that both Aspire Academy and Doha Center for Media Freedom are non-profit entities that aim to serve and invest in human capital as they strongly believe in sustainable development through investing in human capital.
