Aspire Academy’s Football Performance & Science Department showcased its expertise in elite football performance at the 5th Arab Military Sports Medicine Symposium organized by Qatar Military Sports Union under the supervision of the Arab Military Sports Union, with the participation of delegations from 16 Arab countries, held at the Aspire Torch Ballroom on Monday, 7 September.
The invitation to participate in the international symposium reflects Aspire Academy’s recognized role in advancing football performance and sports science. The Academy’s contribution highlighted its continued commitment to applying research, technology and specialist expertise to support player development.
The program opened with a keynote address by Prof. Valter Di Salvo, followed by presentations on key areas of elite performance, including athlete assessment, strength-training technologies, endurance training in hot climates and training-load management.
During his keynote speech, Prof. Di Salvo outlined the development of what he described as the country’s most comprehensive data-management system for football players. He explained that the secure cloud-based platform maintains national football data and currently supports Aspire Academy teams, all Qatar Stars League (QSL) clubs, the newly established QSL 2 and the Qatar National Teams (QFA).
The platform manages match and training data collected through GPS and optical tracking systems for both players and referees. Prof. Di Salvo further noted that, since last season, performance nutritionists have been assigned across QSL and QSL 2 clubs to support a broader cultural shift and enhance performance. This season, players and referees are also being provided with WHOOP devices to monitor sleep quality and recovery.
Through its participation in the symposium, Aspire Academy demonstrated its global expertise in athlete development through a holistic integrated approach on training methodology, data management, research, and technology implementation.
