ASPIRE ACADEMY GRADUATE BASSEM HEMEIDA WINS TWO GOLDS AT ASIAN INDOOR ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Aspire Academy graduate Bassem Hemeida won two gold medals for Qatar at the 12th Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Tianjin, China.

The 2019 graduate, who is a 400m hurdles specialist, won individual gold in the 400m flat and was then part of the Qatar team that won the 4x400m relay alongside Ashraf Hussen Osman, Khala Ngare Mahamat and Ismail Doudai Abakar.

As well as his two gold medals, Bassem Hemeida also set a new personal best of 47.05 seconds for the indoor short-track 400m in the heats on his way to the final.

His main focus for 2026 is the 20th Asian Games, which will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4, where he will aim to go one better than four years ago when he won silver in the 400m hurdles.
