ASPIRE ACADEMY CONTRIBUTES TO THE FUTURE OF EDUCATION SUMMIT QATAR

21 Feb 2024

Speaking at the Future of Education Summit Qatar Dr Khalid Hussein, Aspire Academy’s Head of Strategy and Development in its Education Directorate talked about how the latest developments in artificial intelligence (AI) such as programmes like Chat GPT can be best used.

Dr Hussein was part of a delegation from Aspire Academy’s school which attended the summit, that looked in depth at how academic institutions can make the best use of ever-improving technology.

The delegation was led by School Principal Mr Jassem Al Jaber and also included Abdul Aziz Al-Jedaia Student Affairs Services Manager, Adallah Al-Afifi Dormitory Manager, and Khalid Yassin Master Teacher ART.

The event included keynote speakers and panel discussions on various topics with Dr Hussein contributing to a panel Discussing the challenges educators face when attempting to integrate innovative technologies in institutions.

As well as sharing the Academy’s own experiences the summit offered the chance to learn about new technological advances and how they can be optimised for our student-athletes.

Dr Hussein highlighted that Aspire has been making use of technology for many years to help develop student-athletes not only academically but also for their sporting evolution.

He also took time to address how Aspire views the use of software like Chat GPT which allows people to use computers to write things such as essays and reports.

“(Our student-athletes) are fascinated by technology, so in terms of education, we must take advantage of their interests,” Dr Hussein explained.

“When we look at new or modern AI technologies like Chat GPT and other generating technologies, we always look for the area that the students can benefit from them.”

“Implementing (things like) Chat GPT, while there are, of course, some concerns about its use but implementing it in education and in sports will help a lot of students to develop.”

“(By using technology) We'll keep them engaged over time, one of our limitations in terms of student-athletes education is keeping their engagement and motivation.”

He pointed out that while in the world of sports the student-athletes have their idols who motivate and inspire them, such as Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo, it can be more difficult to find things that stimulate them academically, which is where technology can help.

“Looking to modern technology can help them get more engaged or become more oriented toward education and of course, this will help us,” Dr Hussein explained.

“This summit exposed us to some useful thoughts from other institutions and how they plan to adapt to the new emerging technologies.”

For his part, Mr Al-Hay was also keen to point out that Aspire Academy will continue, as it has done since it is opening, to make use of any new technology that will benefit the student-athletes and teachers.

"We at Aspire Academy, are very proud to be at the forefront of the future of education in Qatar,” he said.

“We were among the first educational institutions to see the pivotal role technology plays in the ongoing development of teaching methods.”

“I strongly believe that our participation at the summit cannot only offer valuable insights to others based on our experience but will also help us adapt, collaborate and learn from the other participants at this summit.”

“We are all working towards achieving Qatar National Vision 2030."
