AL-TAMIMI WINS PSA TITLE ON HOME SOIL

24 Mar 2016

Doha, 24 March 2016. Great result for Aspire Academy graduate Abdulla Al-Tamimi: The 21-year-old Qatari squash player won his 2nd PSA title on Wednesday night with a victory over the #1 seed and world #43 Karim Ali Fathi (Egypt) in the final of the ‘Qatar Circuit III’.

The 2016 squash season has already been quite successful for Al-Tamimi: After winning the ‘Life Time Atlanta Open’ in the US earlier this month, the World No 61 won his second title by beating Egypt’s Ali Fathi in a close five-setter in the final of this week’s PSA M15 tournament at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

Al-Tamimi climbed into the world’s top 70 in November 2014 thanks to some consistent performances before reaching his first PSA World Tour final three months later at the ‘Guilfoyle Financial PSA Classic’. In 2015, the Qatari reached two further finals at the ‘Nash Cup’ and the ‘Any Presence Open’.

After the tournament in Doha, Al-Tamimi is going to train for the next two weeks at Aspire Academy before heading to the GCC Championship in Bahrain.
