01 Sep 2019, General

Aspire Academy is gearing up for a new academic year, 2019- 2020 and it was hive of activities as, staff, coaches and 299 student-athletes from grades seven to twelve, including seventy-three (73) beginners converged at institution. The new student-athletes who made it to Aspire are a result of the final selection process led by the Aspire Academy Talent Identification Program Team while others are enrolled courtesy of referral and recommendation to Aspire by various Qatari Sports Federations and Associations.

Aspire Academy Director of Education and Student Affairs, Mr Badr Al-Hay opened the day’s proceedings saying, “We are expecting a lot of enthusiasm of our new joiners that is inspired by previous generations of student-athletes including the ones winning the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. Most of them were also in the team that won the U-19 AFC Championship in 2014 and that shows that it’s crucial to work hard from an early age on and here they have the opportunity to build the foundation for their careers as athletes. Therefore, it’s also important to adapt quickly to the schedule at Aspire that is very different to the ones in other schools, because the days are long, and they have to balance school and training properly.”

Aspire Academy School Principal Jassem Al-Jaber told the attendees, "It gives me joy to welcome staff, teachers, students and parents to the new academic year. To you new students that join us this year I extend a warm welcome on what l hope are the first steps a fulfilling academic and sporting journey for you. As you begin a new chapter in your life let me give you some worthy advise and encouragement that will serve you well during you time with us at Aspire. Work hard, show commitment and determination to do your best, add discipline to your work ethic and make the most of the opportunities Aspire Academy has to offer. By doing this you will give yourself a chance to become one of the country’s future elite athletes and a well-rounded citizen. The focus of this academic year is on positive behavior. In addition, we have the second visit of CIS coming up in 2020, where we intend to maintain our status as CIS accredited school.”
