13 Dec 2016, General
Doha, 13 December 2016. On Tuesday morning the students of Aspire Academy gathered in the auditorium where the Aspire Health Center gave a presentation followed by a panel discussion staring Al Sadd player and former FC Barcelona star Xavi Hernandez, the Academy graduates Abubaker Haydar and Abdulla Al-Tamimi and current student athlete Moaaz Ibrahim.
The first part of the presentation organized by Aspire’s Health Center dealt with a topic that is quite important for this season – cold and flu. Senior nurse Roula Mattar explained the symptoms of influenza and what could be done to prevent getting infected, such as vaccination and practicing good hygiene.
After that Dr. Antonio Tramullas, Chief of the Aspire Health Center, took the stage and talked about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle in the process of becoming an elite athlete. He used the opportunity to tell the students more about the role of Vitamin D and iron supplementation, that both play an important factor in staying healthy and being able to train and perform on a high level.
Being asked about his stance on a healthy lifestyle in his career, Xavi stressed its importance. “I was already 24 years old when I realized how important it is to take vitamins and to sleep properly in order to be at hundred percent, and I know that I should have paid attention to these things much earlier. Because making it to the top is also about the small details and that’s why you should listen to your doctors, live healthy and make the best of your opportunities and support that you get here.”
