Doha, 10 May 2017. Taking into account the success of the 2nd Aspire Academy Sport Science Conference, “Monitoring Athlete Training Loads – The Hows and Whys” and to further extend its impact and legacy, the Aspire Academy has partnered with the International Journal of Sports Physiology and Performance to produce an open-access special-edition supplement, in which a series of contemporary reviews and original research authored by some of the conference presenters are published.
"There are 30 very applied papers in this volume from world-leading experts including those from Aspire. Each one of these papers has already impacted, and will impact further, the experience of our student athletes in the Academy and will inform our best practice as we head towards our targets," said Tim Cable, Director of Sports Science at Aspire Academy. In addition, this volume has the potential to be of high repetitional value to the Academy as it represents one of the best resources available on Training Load monitoring and will likely impact delivery of athletic programmes around the world.
"The early evidence for this, is that since going "live" last week, 9 of these papers have become the most downloaded from the Journal website, since the new Journal website was launched in August 2016," Cable added.
