Aspire Academy Tri-Series
Competition plays a major role in the development of elite players. Aspire Academy regularly hosts the best youth teams from all over the world to compete against our teams in the format called “Aspire Academy Tri-Series”.
The opponents are selected according to precise criteria such as the standard of the youth development program in the visiting nations, their profile and background. By competing against strong teams, the Academy teams have the chance to play against as many different styles and systems as possible and, most of all, in a competitive environment.
Besides competing against the teams of Aspire Academy, the visiting clubs are invited to present their work, philosophies and various topics related to working with junior players.
On average there are 20 presentations of this kind at the Academy each year.
This huge wealth of experience and international know-how benefits not just the coaches of Aspire Academy, but also the coaches of local clubs from the Qatar Stars League that are invited and encouraged to join these events.
The number of teams that have visited Aspire Academy in course of a “Tri-Series” tournament is continuingly growing: In the 2013-14 season alone Aspire Academy welcomed 32 teams from five continents including big clubs such as Liverpool FC (England), Paris St-Germain (France), Ajax Amsterdam (Netherlands), Zenit St. Petersburg (Russia), Nagoya Grampus Eight (Japan), Esperance de Tunis (Tunisia) and Palmeiras (Brazil) as well as youth national teams from Canada and Denmark.
Besides the “Tri-Series” all teams of Aspire Academy regularly compete in major international tournaments such as the “Al Kass International Cup” in Qatar, the “Toulon Tournament” in France and the “Mediterranean International Cup” (MIC) in Spain.
One of the main reasons for participating in competitions abroad is to expose the players to different environments.
